Discover the St. Hilarion Castle
St. Hilarion Castle is one of the most impressive historical structures in Northern Cyprus. Located on the summit of the Kyrenia Mountains, southwest of Kyrenia, this castle enchants its visitors with its unique view and rich history.
History
The castle was built during the Byzantine period in the 10th century and takes its name from the monk Hilarion who lived here. It was used as a royal summer palace during the Lusignan period.
Architecture
The castle consists of three sections, with the royal apartments on the top floor, the church and barracks on the middle floor, and the stables and warehouses on the bottom floor.
Visiting Hours
The castle is open for visits between 09:00-17:00 in summer and 09:00-16:30 in winter.
How to Get There?
You can reach the castle by car from Kyrenia in about 20 minutes. Magnificent views accompany you along the way.
